Chuck Stevens Memorial

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chuck Stevens passing on July 29th, 2018.

Chuck had been in Tulsa Radio for thirty one years. Graduating from high school in 1984 he was listening to all the great songs you hear on Totally Awesome 80’s. A tribute broadcast was presented on July 30th, with many former co-workers, DJ’s and listeners sharing their stories about Chuck.

Audio from that tribute can be heard below. Funeral services were held August 2nd at First Baptist Church in Skiatook.

Thank you to the thousands who have poured on love and support on social media and by text and phone calls. We are a big family and Chuck was the patriarch of Totally Awesome 80’s. He will be missed.

  • I am so saddened and shocked at your passing… you were always a great friend who will be greatly missed! God Speed!

  • Going to miss hearing you Chuck. What a great guy; great attitude, and voice. Rest in pease my friend.

  • Grew up listening to Chuck on the Tulsa radio air waves up and down the dial…Finally got to meet him one night while he was singing Karaoke at the old Fishbones bar on Sheridan. He was very nice to meet and have a conversation with. I told him I felt like he was an “uncle” to me, because I listened to the radio so much and his voice made the world a better place. Did not know he had a love of Merle Haggard, he played at our casino, Merle Jam is his band. Godspeed “uncle” Chuck, Tulsa lost a great one…just glad to have had the chance to grow up with you playing the soundtrack to my life…

  • I’ve listened to Chuck Stevens on various radio stations since I was 11 years old. Tulsa radio won’t be the same without him. RIP and prayers to his family and friends.

  • Chuck and I go back to my KTUL days back in 2001. Whenever I needed a tag for a promotional spot, he was always fast and turned it around quickly. Sometimes he’d send back the audio with a joke at the end just for me.

His band was good too. When my husband died of cancer, Chuck was one of the people that made sure that I didn’t sit around the house alone. He encouraged me to go out, and to go watch his band. Thanks Chuck!

  • What a loss to this world!!! Chuck had a golden voice. I had the pleasure of singing with him, and listening to him sing karaoke all the time. “Miami, My Amy” WOW!!! I will miss you Chuck. Rest easy my friend. Thank you for all the wonderful memories!! Prayers to the family. God Bless.

  • Over 30 years following Chuck seems to be a trend. I started in 1994 with Chuck at K107 then again in 1998 at K-Hits, and 2000 at Mix 96 and K95.. I got out of radio and into TV but Chuck was always keeping tabs or wanting me to come hang out. I regret all the times I didn’t now. But I cherish those times I did. Chucks last text to me was asking how I was doing. He was always there and always will be.

  • Im already missing Chuck in the mornings he got the day started I never had the same feeling towards other radio stations in town God bless him and his family!
